Steel Magnolias

Steel Magnolias

"Ouiser, you know I love you more than my luggage."
 - Steel Magnolias

“Is a Videographer really necessary at my wedding ?” a bride might ask. That brings to mind the movie, Steel Magnolias. Undeniably one of the most memorable movies of the 80s, Steel Magnolias taught us what it meant to have an unbreakable bond and featured some of the biggest A-listers..Dolly, Sally, Julia, Oivia and Shirley.  Of course all the wonderful quotes would have been missed, if a video camera had not been rolling!

“My colors are blush and bashful. I have chosen two shades of pink,
one is much deeper than the other.”
 - Shelby (Steel Magnolias)

A videographer captures the emotional moments that make your wedding uniquely yours. They are experts at recording the heartfelt glances, tearful hugs from Daddy-, kisses from mom, and joyful expressions that you will want to remember forever.

“Laughter through tears is my favorite emotion”
  – Truvy (Steel Magnolias)

I hear over and over, wedding day goes by all too fast and a wish to relive the moment is available with a wedding video.  “Pictures just don’t capture everything” , and “ I see things that were only captured on video” has been heard over and over. “Our main goal is to not only capture the moments throughout that special day but help create memories that you can look back on for years to come. Photos are fantastic and allow you to capture a specific moment, but they don’t capture that raw emotion and allow you to relive exactly how you felt in that moment in time, that’s priceless.” Says Travis Sherman of SS Pictures.

“I would rather have three minutes of wonderful, than a lifetime of nothing special”
                                                                                                 – Steel Magnolias
Any Southern bride has probably seen the movie, Steel Magnolias at least five times, and catches a fabulous, memorable quote each time it is viewed….same with your own video. You will find something you never saw or heard each time it is viewed. Enjoy your wedding for a lifetime with a professional video of your special day.

Blessings on your day,

Surprise Engagement

It is not everyday we get to host a surprise engagement, but when we do, we too, fall in love. This is a super sweet couple and their family and friends even joined in the surprise at the end. The photos are by Whitney Bower, and she captured the day beautifully. It all started with a simple romantic carriage ride around the lake....but suddenly the carriage stops...at a table for two, and the question is popped. Of course she said yes, and on the return trip, family and friends await to surprise. Warm cocoa and chocolate on the haywagon...warm up to the bonfire. Love is in the air!

Ready for a romantic sundown carriage ride....

the carriage stops ....

Lots and lots of hugs...

Just can't believe this!

The Pros of Magnolia Hill

The Pro’s Know

There are a few times in your life when you should make the choice to let the pro’s have it, and a wedding is certainly one of them. A friend at church last week could not wait to tell me about the wedding she attended…or helped. It was another horror story of as she arrived as a guest, she went to check on the bride and found the brides’ mother frantically in the church’s kitchen trying to pull together complicated appetizer trays …all last minute. Linens needed to be placed on the reception tables and the mother was about in tears for she really wanted to be in the brides room helping her daughter get dressed. Uncle Fred called and he was going to be late, even though he was asked to take pictures at the wedding. All of the stress on the bride and her mother knowing the day was not going smoothly could have been avoided with a bit of utilizing a professional…planner, caterer, and photographer.

Catering Creations, exclusive caterer for Magnolia Hill

Mother of the bride should never serve as caterer. Obviously professionals have more experience in catering because that’s what they do — all day, every day. They will help you not only with food and drink but include important details such as plates, napkins, tablescapes and décor. With a pro, you won’t worry about running out of food…you’ll always have enough food. A professional catering company has the experience in providing the right amount of food and drinks to feed all your guests. Catering companies don’t just bring food; they also make sure that plates are full and discarded dishes aren’t left around to clutter your gathering. This lets you focus your attention on your guests. Enjoy mingling while the professionals serve the food and drinks.

The professional catering company will also spare you the clean up process during and after your gathering. They put the menu together before the party starts, and they take everything apart afterwards so that you don’t have to worry about washing dishes or clearing the tables. Hiring a professional caterer can save time, money, stress and a mother’s heart. This is the day the pros know!

It's no secret that one of my favorite things to do
is to share a glimpse of our weddings with you.

For me- something that is key with a wedding
 is a simple elegance...Southern style.

There is a lake and a line of towering willow trees that are one of my favorite things about the altar area.
The vintage stained glass doors create a soft visual  feel for an outdoor chapel. Getting married underneath our willow tree in front of family and friends...what could be better?
Even if it rains, we have the Big Red Barn. The walls are lined with  peely-paint red barnwood  that we salvaged from a torn down dairy barn.

Chandeliers, stained glass, a canoe, Italian String lights, horse and carriage, doves, a Chevy red truck, a vintage Packard
and end the night with fireworks!
Four seasons at Magnolia Hill...winter, spring, summer & fall...we love to share the beautiful setting.

I hope you enjoy a glimpse of weddings here at Magnolia Hill.
